Where I Source My Plants 🌱

At The Alo Greenhouse, every Alocasia I sell has a story that begins long before it reaches your hands. I believe that rare plants deserve transparency, responsible sourcing, and a whole lot of love along the way.

Trusted Nursery Partnerships

I work directly with specialized nurseries that share my passion for rare and unique Alocasias. One of my most exciting collaborations is with Las Plantas Indonesia, a nursery renowned for its work with non-variegated special species as well as fascinating mutations and hybrids of Alocasias.

Las Plantas Indonesia
Our trusted partner for rare non-variegated Alocasia species, hybrids, and unique mutations.

Las Plantas Indonesia has been behind the discovery and creation of some of my absolute favorite hybrids and mutations — some of which you’ll see offered here at The Alo Greenhouse. Their dedication to exploring the full potential of the genus makes them an ideal partner.

Tissue Culture & Baby Plants

In addition to nursery partnerships, I also collaborate with tissue culture cultivators and other reputable growers. Many of my plants arrive as tiny seedlings, corms, or fresh tissue culture specimens. From there, I carefully:

  • Acclimate delicate tissue culture plants to their first “real world” environment.
  • Raise baby plants in controlled conditions until they’re strong, healthy, and ready to thrive in your home.
  • Keep corms in a humid environment where they can start pushing leaves and developing into small baby plants.

This process takes time, patience, and plenty of monitoring — but it ensures that every plant you receive has been nurtured with the attention it deserves.

Why This Matters

By sourcing responsibly and raising many of my plants myself, I can:

  • Guarantee healthier plants that are better adjusted to Swiss conditions.
  • Offer truly unique Alocasia species, hybrids, and mutations you won’t easily find elsewhere.
  • Support innovation in plant cultivation while keeping sustainability in mind.

At The Alo Greenhouse, you’re not just buying a plant — you’re bringing home a piece of an ongoing collaboration between passionate growers around the world.
